What can I do to stop my computer from overheating every time I play a game?

Hello! I'm having an issue with my Toshiba Qosmio X500-505 whereby every time I try to play a game (GTA IV, Sim City 4, Civilization V, and so on) it overheats and shuts off in the middle of gameplay. I bought a cooling pad with USB connecting fans and it does cool down the comp, but not enough to stop the overheating. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? What can I do to stop my computer from overheating every time I play a game?
Use compressed air and blow out the exhaust vents to make sure there is no dust buildup. Aside from that, make sure the internal fan is running ( you can stick a small scrap of paper in there if you can't tell by looking at it). If not, have it replaced. Not much you can do other than that since it's a laptop but my bet is that dust is built up in the heatsink.
try updating the bios. go to the their support site and download the newest Bios firmware they have. If that does not work then.. well for one thing what do you have it on even with the fans cooler. Do you have it on a wood or solid table? Dont put it in your lap or on the sofa leather or cloth. Try updating the graphics card too. If that does not work then the laptop was bad design and you may be out of luck. We need to mirror your drive to another computer and get a new computer. If you can get the exact same build you can just take out the harddrive, but the issue might come back since its design. Good luck. email me if you have more questions. nerdposse@cox.netWhat can I do to stop my computer from overheating every time I play a game?
Nothing really. That's why laptops are rarely ever recommended for gaming, all that equipment in such a small space causes a lot of heat.

Also, do not "hoover" it. Vacuums are a great source for electro-static discharge and that will just place kill your laptop.
It sounds like you need a new one, The fan sounds like It's broke, Have you tried hoovering it? That could also help, If none of that works You'll have to buy a new one Most likely:)What can I do to stop my computer from overheating every time I play a game?
non-gaming laptops always overheat when you play games.
make sure your room isn't in high temperature
make sure you aren't blocking the fan
