Why can't I un-install Civilization IV so I can re-install it?

Well i tried to download the 1.74 patch so I could play multiplayer then it closed my game.. I then tried to re-open the game but it wouldn't allow me so I tried to un-install the game. This didn't work as I got this message:

Does anyone have a way I can un-install the game? I tried clearing the folders but unfortunately that didn't work.. Any help? Why can't I un-install Civilization IV so I can re-install it?

Did you uninstall the patch too? You might have to do that, since installing the patch changed the original program. You may also try just reinstalling overtop of the current installation, without uninstalling first; or try a "repair" installation - I *think* that's an option but I don't remember for sure.
